Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions:
1. What do I get for my entry fee?
All participants will receive a short sleeve technical shirt. All finishers will receive a finishers medal and water bottle along with food and goodies at the finish line area. All participants are invited to the post race festivities which include Gordon-Biersch beer at McP's Irish Pub and Grill in Coronado with live music from Mystique.
2. How can I sign up for the event?
You can register online at www.coronado10k.com. We do not accept mailed in applications.
3. Is there an age limit for the race?
There are no age limits. We encourage participants of all ages to join us! There is a discount for runners 17 years old and younger.
4. Do you have to run the entire race or can you walk?
You can walk or run. It is up to you and we will have plenty of participants who will walk.

6. What can I do before and after the race?
There are many fun things to do during race weekend in Coronado and participants receive numerous discounts at local businesses. A complete list of discounts will be provided at packet pickup.
7. Will I receive a refund if I cannot attend?
There are absolutely no refunds, no exceptions.
8. Are baby joggers or strollers allowed during the race?
If you choose to run with a baby jogger, please seed yourself toward the back of the start line. It is your responsibility to make sure the baby jogger does not impede other runners, and you must take extra precaution to ensure your safety, your child's safety and the safety of the runners around you. We reserve the right to pull any person from the race who is endangering other runners or themselves.
9. Are pets allowed during the race?
No. This is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies.
10. Are headphones (iPods, mp3 players, etc) allowed during the race?
Headphones are allowed for any runner who is not competing for a cash prize. If you do run with headphones, it is requested that you keep one ear free to be able to hear safety vehicles.
11. Can I transfer my registration to another runner or defer to next year?
No. There is a strict a no transfer and no defer policy. It is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number does in fact belong to you, the participant.
While this may seem harmless to the parties perpetrating the unauthorized bib transfer, it does convey serious consequences to the organizers and participant field alike. From race results to finishers' awards being impacted as well as medical staff being able to correctly identify participants in need of treatment, it is imperative that the registration data associated with your race number does in fact belong to you, the participant.
Packet Pick Up:
12. How will I receive my race packet? Race packets must be picked up in person. You MUST show your photo ID to pick up your packet. We will not mail your race packets. You may pick up your packet during one of the following times:
Friday, February 10th, 2012 at McP's Irish Pub in Coronado from 12:00noon - 4:00pm
Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at Gordon-Biersch in Mission Valley from 12:00 noon - 5:00pm
Sunday, February 12th, 2012 at Tidelands Park from 5:30am to 7:30 am.
13. Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, as long as they have a copy of your photo ID and a letter signed by you providing permission for someone else to pick up your packet.
Race day registration will not be available.
General Race Information:
15. Will there be water stops?
Yes, there will be water stops at approximately mile 1.5, mile 4.5 and water and food will be available at the finish line.
16. Will there be a sports drink or energy gels on the course?
Water and VITALYTE will be available at both aid stations and at the finish line. We will not offer any energy gels on the course.
17. What are the event start times?
The race will start at 8:00am.
18. Is there a bag check available?
No, the parking lots are very close to the start and finish line so dry bag check will not be available.
There is not a time limit for participants. But the post race party at McP's starts at 10am so run fast!
20. Will there be photographers on the course?
Yes. Brightroom Event Photography will be on the course taking pictures that you can purchase online.
Awards:
21. Will there be an awards ceremony?
Yes, there will be awards ceremony at Tidelands Park. There is prize money for the top 3 in each age group male/female and for the 1st Male and Female Masters (40 years and older) and hand carved Islander Tiki's will be awarded for the top 3 overall, top 3 in each age group and top 3 couples in each division.
22. Will the race be timed?
Yes, it will be chip timed and you will cross a mat at the start, the halfway point (5K) and at the finish line.
