Islander Sports Foundation
Islander Sports Foundation, formerly called the Coronado High School All Sports Booster Club, was founded in 1994 and obtained of 501 (c)(3) non-profit status in 1996. The ISF mission statement is:
‘Helping All Students Become Champions Through Sports."
Over the past 15 years, district funding at CHS for sports has not increased, while the number of sports sharing the funding has risen. Combined with the additions of new interscholastic sports, the funding pie, which has not grown, is actually smaller by the time it gets to each coach.
ISF serves as the collector of athletic registration monies for the CHS Athletic Department to ensure adequate funding exists to remain successful and competitive. ISF also serves as a financial umbrella for the CHS Booster Clubs.
Additionally, in 2001, ISF took over the Coronado Middle School sports program, which was being discontinued by the district due to lack of funding from the State. The driving force behind the ISF-MIddle School Program (MSP) is the belief that interscholastic competition is important at the middle school age level, which will also help to better serve the CHS Athletic Program.
